Your IFS Therapy Questions Answered

I am located in Strongsville, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. All sessions are conducted online using a HIPAA compliant, secure video call platform to protect your confidentiality. I am licensed and registered to provide professional therapy services for anyone in the states of Ohio and Florida.

Online therapy has been shown to be as effective as in-person therapy sessions. You will need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and a working webcam, microphone, and speakers so that we can communicate during our calls. You will also need a private space so that you can talk without other’s present or able to overhear. Before each session you will receive a link in advance to connect to your appointment. Joining your appointment is as simple as clicking the link when you are ready, typing your name, and pressing a button to start. You can find more information here.

I do not have an in-person office at this time and cannot offer in-person meetings.

My fees are $125 per therapy hour and $150 for the initial assessment session.  I also offer extended sessions of 90 minutes for $200 for clients interested in having more time to continue working in each session. Sessions can be paid for with credit, debit, or HSA and FSA cards.

I am out-of-network with insurance companies. If your insurance plan reimburses for out-of-network expenses I can provide you the necessary documentation to submit for reimbursement. Payment for sessions is due on the day of your appointment.

A Good Faith Estimate is an estimate of the costs you can expect for mental health services. It includes the fees for therapy sessions, assessments, and any other services provided by the therapist. This estimate is based on the therapist’s current rates and the expected number of sessions or services needed. It is not a guarantee of final costs. I will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate before we begin therapy to help you understand the costs you will be responsible for.

During your first appointment we will talk about the problems and issues you are interested in addressing with the help of therapy, and your goals related to those issues. I will also ask some questions to help me better understand you, your history, and factors related to your mental health and our work together. We will also review some of my practice policies so you know what to expect, and you will have a chance to ask me any questions.

This can vary depending on your specific needs and is something we will discuss together. Once per week sessions or once every other week are common session frequencies that allow you to experience the benefits of therapy and build on those from session to session without too much time elapsing.

This will likely depend on what problems, issues, and goals we will be working on. The length of your participation in therapy can vary based on a number of factors. You may be able to meet your goals for therapy after a small number of sessions, or, you might find that a longer period is needed to help you navigate deep-seated issues or work on bigger changes in your life. I will work with you to ensure that you are making progress toward your goals. The decision to continue or end therapy is your choice.

I chose the name “Unburdened Spirit Counseling” for my practice to describe the overarching intention of my therapy work, which is to help you experience yourself and your life with greater freedom from the burdens that weigh you down, stress you out, or keep you feeling stuck. When these burdens are released and emotional wounds are healed, the core vitality and beauty of the human spirit is free to thrive and we can bring that much needed vitality to others, and the world.
